Supported Employment

The Employment Placement Officers aim to develop and facilitate suitable open employment or voluntary placements, for adults with disabilities. We also help to sustain this through offering you and the employers, high quality training and support for up to 6 weeks.

Supported Employment offers:

  • Various supported employment opportunities across Wrexham
  • A choice of work experience
  • In Sheltered Employment (Day & Employment Opportunities Service - Small Businesses) 6 week taster
  • Achievements gained in various learning and training opportunities i.e. in catering/gardening
  • Opportunities to attend college and gain more skills at a certificated level
  • A Service Delivery Plan with individuals, carers and friends looking at options and choice of employment and opportunities. These are  reviewed every 6 – 12 months
  • Links to an Employment Placement Officer who can arrange work profiles to match your needs and work aspirations in either paid or voluntary work
  • Options to access other activities across Day & Employment Services i.e. Resource Centres
  • Joint partnership working with other services/professional

All referrals to The Employment Placement Service are made either from Day Opportunities Panel (DOP) or direct from SCOPE - with a time limited support of 30 days.

Attend courses to train towards chosen career.

Marketing is carried out by the Employment Placement Officers to search for Potential Employers.

The Employment Placement Officers have links with Charities, Societies, Organisations, etc.

Support to develop skills in preparing cv’s, completing application forms and interview techniques.

Employment Placement Officers maintain the following procedures:

  • Process of compiling vocational/individual assessments of skills and needs.
  • Work Profile
  • Job matching
  • Risk assessments
  • Observing the local business culture
  • Systematic instruction techniques using train and fade methods for individuals to reach the standard required by the host company.
  • Working alongside adults with disabilities in ordinary work settings.

Our office hours are Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 7.30am to 5.30pm, Wednesday 8.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm.
