Are you a child or young person in the Wrexham area who is being abused either at home or by someone outside your home?
Is someone at home being ill-treated by someone else? Or do you have a friend who needs help because they are being abused?
If so, you can get help in any of these ways :
- Ring the Duty Social Worker on 01978 267000 during the day Monday to Friday, or 0845 0533 116 at night and weekends, and tell them what is happening. Or you can e-mail them at cafat@wrexham.gov.uk or outhours@wrexham.gov.uk
- In an emergency - such as when someone is being hit or shut out of their home - ring the police on 999
- Or you can ring Childline on 0800 1111 or go to www.childline.org.uk.
- If you don't want to talk to someone you don't know, you can ask an adult that you trust, like a teacher or youth worker or even a friend, to make the phone call for you. When people are working with children they have to follow set procedures, but they will explain to you what they will do and should be able to support you through the process.
- There are some other helpful websites that you may want to have a look at. If you are being bullied you may find these helpful:
www.childline.org.uk
www.parentscentre.gov.uk
www.kidscape.org.uk
www.sortit.org.uk
www.nspcc.org.uk
If you're worried about anything that's happening or could happen to you when you go on the internet you could have a look at these:
www.faceup2it.org
www.childnet-int.org
www.internetsafetyzone.co.uk
www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com
www.thinkuknow.co.uk
www.chatdanger.com
www.spstation.co.uk
Also on this site you could look at Useful links - Kidslinks or Helping with life events, both from the Wrexham Council homepage.
It's often very difficult to talk about abuse - but if you don't tell anyone they can't help you stop it.
