Welcome to the website of Wrexham Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).
If you are a child or young person in the Wrexham area and you or a friend are suffering from abuse, you can get help by ringing the duty Social Worker on 01978 267000 (0845 0533 116 outside office hours) or by viewing 'Advice for Children & Young People'.
The LSCB came into being on the 1st October 2006 as a requirement under the Children Act 2004, and replaces the Area Child Protection Committee which has been in place since 1996. It is the statutory body responsible for protecting children and young people from significant harm and for promoting their welfare.
The Board members are senior managers of local agencies who have a part to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. They have a responsibility to ensure that all agencies collaborate to provide the highest standard of service to children in Wrexham, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and to strive to achieve for every child the 7 Core Aims (link to external website) set out by the Welsh Assembly Government.
The LSCB works through a structure of sub groups which ensure that local issues are addressed on a multi-agency basis, systems are continually audited in response to local need and lessons learnt and that staff from all agencies have access to relevant training.
All agencies have a duty to comply with the All Wales Child Protection Procedures, which can be found on www.awcpp.org.uk
If you are worried that a child is being abused, please contact the Duty Social Worker on 01978 267000 (0845 0533 116 outside office hours).
