Welfare Rights Unit

Annual Results

The annual results for the work of Wrexham County Borough Council's Welfare Rights Unit (WRU) are now available. In 2005/06 we directly helped people in Wrexham to claim some £4.4 million in extra Social Security benefits.

We dealt with over 2,400 in-depth cases, 1,000 telephone advice requests and continued to act acted as legal advocate at Social Security appeal tribunals. We continue to offer training courses; provide regular updates on benefit matters through talks and presentations; and generally promote the rights of all to claim their entitlements.
