Do you have a child who will be 3 between 1st September and 31st March? If YES then read on...
Funding is now available for 3 year old children in Wrexham to receive early years education the term after their 3rd Birthday.
Your child can have a place in an ‘approved’ setting for either:
a) 5 sessions a week, one per day, of 2 hours duration
OR….
b) 4 sessions per week, one per day, of two and a half hours duration.
This will depend on what the setting of your choice is providing.
An 'approved' setting may be one of the following:
- A playgroup
- A private day nursery
- A nursery class or early years unit in a local school.
You may apply by completing an Admission form at the setting. You can apply for funding at only ONE setting. Funding goes directly to the setting each half term.
For children whose birthdays fall during the Autumn Term (1st September – 31st December) funding will be given for 2 terms, Spring and Summer.
For children whose birthdays fall during the Spring Term (1st January – 31st March) funding will be given for 1 term, Summer.
Settings who receive funding must:-
- have suitably qualified staff
- be inspected by ESTYN
- provide the stated sessions
- accept the support of a qualified teacher on a regular basis.
- attend Early Education Training provided by the LEA.
Securing a place at an approved pre-school early education setting does not give you an automatic place at nursery school. This must be applied for separately on the nursery admission form available from each school or the Admissions Department at Tŷ Henblas.
It is Wrexham’s aim to provide the best early years experiences for our young children through quality play.
Learning through Play
- having fun!
- meeting friends!

- exploring!
- making things!
- doing things for myself!
