Wrexham ITeC – Employers

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) through the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS), drawing on The European Social Fund (ESF), provides Wrexham ITeC with funding to train employed people in a range of vocational areas, at no direct cost to you or your employee (subject to eligibility).

Employees, who are encouraged and supported to improve their qualifications by their employers, are more motivated and results show that higher outputs and better standards of work are achieved.

Wrexham ITeC can help your employees to gain National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in levels 1, 2 & 3 in the following areas – Business and Administration, Customer Service, Information Technology (ITQ), Team Leading and Management, Retail, Distribution and Storage, Logistics Operations, Contact Centre Operation and, for Teaching Assistants, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS) by enrolling them as either a Foundation Modern Apprentice (FMA) or a Modern Apprentice (MA).

NVQ Frameworks are gained by the employee gathering evidence of competence in the workplace against a set of nationally recognised standards, they have the assistance of one of Wrexham ITeC’s Assessors who visits the workplace and works with the employee. The Frameworks are supplemented with Essential Skills Wales and Technical Certificates. The employee would be expected to attend Wrexham IteC, at the very most, on average 1 to 2 days per month. The acquisition of an NVQ takes between 15 and 24 months – subject to route.

Wrexham ITeC is part of the Lifelong Learning Department of Wrexham County Borough Council and, along with WAG/DCELLS, we are committed to the training of the local workforce and the enhancement of the local economy.
