THE ICING ON THE CAKE !

Hard working Kayleigh Haycock has successfully completed the National Vocational Qualification in Retail Level 2 with Wrexham ITeC whilst employed at Ecclestons Confectioners Ltd as Assistant Manageress.

Kayleigh has worked at Ecclestons in Wrexham for nearly 3 years and this experience has proved invaluable for both Kayleigh and her employer. To have the opportunity to continue earning whilst gaining a recognised qualification was a perfect solution for Kayleigh.

Kayleigh is Wrexham ITeC's first ever Retail candidate and when asked what she enjoyed the most about the course, she replied , 'all of it'!

Kayleigh's NVQ Assessor Helen Francis said `We were able to tailor the course specifically to Kayleigh's current job role: Kayleigh has put a huge amount of effort into her training and has been able to achieve additional key skill qualifications. It has been an absolute pleasure working with her over the last 12 months and I am delighted that she has achieved her NVQ. I wish her all the very best for the future.'

Kayleigh's boss Mr Eccleston also added `Kayleigh is a very valuable member of staff and we wish her a long, happy and successful future with ourselves'.

Wrexham ITeC offers a whole host of fully subsidised NVQ courses which relate to a cross section of Industry and Commerce.

You can do it if you A&B it!

Ross Sankey (Company Director) and Bob Griffin (Sales Manager) are the proud employers of Holly Richards at A+B Air Systems Ltd based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate.

In addition to working full time, Holly has also successfully completed an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Framework in Business and Administration and Information Technology with Wrexham ITeC, which is based on the Whitegate Industrial Estate, Wrexham.

Having enjoyed the courses so much and gained a great deal from them, Holly has decided to progress further and start another NVQ Framework in Customer Services, once again with Wrexham ITeC.

Holly would not have achieved so much if it wasn't for the great support and guidance of Sarah Gaade (Wrexham ITeC Trainer / Assessor) and all of the staff at A&B Air Systems Ltd. Well done to you all !

As the qualifications are work based you can fit them in around work and Earn while you Learn. They do not cost a penny as they are funded through the Welsh Assembly Government and on completion we award you with some shopping vouchers.

Congratulations to Mr Damien O'Reilly

Congratulations to Mr Damien O'Reilly, single parent from Corwen, who successfully achieved European Computer Driving License (ECDL) Levels 1 & 2, Information Technology National Vocational Qualification (ITQ) and Key Skills in Communication, Working With Others, Improve Own Learning and Information Technology.

Mr O'Reilly had very little computer experience and qualifications when he joined Wrexham ITeC for a full time course for unemployed people. As the course was funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government it didn't cost a penny, there was help towards travelling expenses and benefits were not affected.

Mr O'Reilly said: "The Skills, qualifications, experience and confidence I have gained from Wrexham ITeC is second to none, I would highly recommend them to other people thinking about re training or learning complete new skills. I was treated with respect and the friendly service was exceptional. I met lots of nice people".

Refurbishment at Wrexham ITeC

Over the last few months there have been significant changes at Wrexham ITeC including some landscaping around the exterior of the building and major changes to the layout of the building, decor and facilities.

Training and conference rooms have been created on both floors, a new air conditioning system has been installed, improved emergency lighting and fire alarm systems as well as interactive white boards being installed in each of the training and conference rooms in addition to improved lighting and seating.  All of this is complemented by redecoration and new carpeting.

As well as creating an ambience more conducive to learning it provides the standard of accommodation and services demanded by people looking to hire rooms at Wrexham ITeC.

Estyn Inspection at Wrexham ITeC

Following a week long inspection at Wrexham ITeC by Estyn – Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales – in November of last year, the outcome has just been made official and will shortly appear on the Estyn website.

A team of eight inspectors spent a week based at Wrexham ITeC, talking to both in-house and work based staff and Learners as well as carrying out the most rigorous examination of documentation, policies, procedures, records etc.

Over the 7 Key Questions, Wrexham ITeC scored 2 x 1s, 4 x 2s and a 3.  1 being “good with outstanding features”, 2 being “good features and no important shortcomings” and 3 “good features outweigh shortcomings”.

By any standards, this is an exceptional result, reflecting and acknowledging the quality of service delivered by all of the staff at Wrexham ITeC.

Copies of the full inspection report are available through staff at Wrexham ITeC and, as stated, on the Estyn website.

Wrexham ITeC to Deliver Three Additional National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Frameworks

In line with the Regional Statement of Needs and Priorities (RSNP), Wrexham ITeC is expanding its portfolio of NVQ Frameworks by introducing Distribution & Warehousing, Retail and Call Handling.  It is anticipated that these programmes will be launched in late February/early March ’07 and, it is anticipated, they will cover Levels I, II and III for SkillBuild+, Foundation Modern Apprenticeships (FMAs) and Modern Apprenticeships (MAs).

Wrexham ITeC has been successfully delivering NVQ Frameworks Levels II & III in Information Technology, Business and Administration and Customer Service for over twenty years.  It recently introduced Team Leading NVQ Level II to its portfolio.

The high standard of delivery of these programmes and exceptional success rates has recently been quantified in a comprehensive inspection of Wrexham ITeC carried out by Estyn – Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales.

The new Frameworks – incorporating Key Skills and Technical Certificates – would better enable companies to consolidate their NVQ training needs with a sole provider.

There is no direct cost.  All of the Frameworks offered by Wrexham ITeC are 100 % funded by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) drawing on European Social Fund (ESF) monies – thus leaving your training budget intact!

If you would like further information on either the new or established Frameworks or would like to discuss your company’s training options through Wrexham ITeC, please do not hesitate to contact any member of our Business Liaison Team:
