Education Social Work Service

Policy Statement

Every child living within Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) has a right to benefit from the educational opportunities provided by the Borough, in order that they may reach their maximum potential. To achieve this aim the Education Social Work Service will provide professional, quality social work support to young people, families and schools.

The Service believes that children and young people are individuals and have a right to equal opportunities, whatever their ability, race, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation or social background.

The Service recognises that young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and families, who are socially disadvantaged may, at times, require positive discrimination.

The Service has a duty to work alongside other agencies in order to support all young people with specific emphasis towards Child Protection issues, and, are committed to working within the guidelines of The Framework for Assessment of Children in Need document.

We offer a service that operates within the legal framework and policies adopted by WCBC in order to provide an inclusive education that considers the welfare and protection of children.
