Young People's Centre

Wrexham Youth Service has a number of centres which are used by young people and community groups, each centre has it's own youth forum empowered to make decisions about the activities that take place at the centre and who are involved in appointing all youth work staff for that centre, young people always have priority access to these buildings which is why they are called Young people's centres. All centres are equipped with an IT suite, and are decorated by and jointly managed by young people and youth work staff.

Llay Park Resource Centre and Young People's Centre

Llay Park Resource Centre is a new and exciting development that has recently been completed and commissioned into service in July 2004. The centre is situated at Market Square, Llay and stands on the site of the old WCBC Youth Centre, next to St Martin's church. The Llay Park Resource Centre project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Local Regeneration Fund, Wrexham County Borough Council and Llay Community Council.

As the centre gets into full swing it will host a range of community facilities that will include an Information and Resource centre, providing information to the general public in various formats including free Internet access. A Youth and Community provision focusing provision towards the younger members of the community.

Included in the current programme of activities are informal learning opportunities, young Women's work, sports and fitness and widening participation in Wrexham County. The centre will also host a Learning and Education suite, an Information, Communication and Technology suite and a part-time temporary crèche . Also within the centre there is provision for three Incubator Business Units and a high specification, well equipped and ideally located community café. The out side area has a youth shelter and in February 2005 a new Multi Use Games Area will be erected.
