Food Safety Inspections

The section inspects local food businesses for cleanliness and good hygiene practices. There are approximately 1250 food businesses in the Borough.

Visits are priority programmed according to the degree of potential risk. This ensures that higher risk premises are visited more frequently than lower risk categories.

The department investigates complaints about hygiene in food premises, contaminated or unfit food.
