Another Successful Trading Standards Prosecution
Wrexham's Trading Standards Officers have just brought about another successful prosecution for selling counterfeit goods.
Nyeem Aslam of 2 Chanticleer Close, Wrexham pleaded guilty at Wrexham Magistrates Court to 7 offences against the Trade Marks Act.
Trading Standards Officers had found him in possession of counterfeit clothing at his stall, Origin Clothing in the People's Market, his home and his van.
The items included pullovers and jackets bearing designer labels such as Fred Perry, Paul and Shark, Lacoste and Rockport. 634 items in total were seized and forfeited by Trading Standards who estimate the goods to have a street value in excess of £15,000.
Mr Aslam was given a 140 hours Community Punishment Order and ordered to pay £1,000.
Andy Lewis, Wrexham's Chief Housing and Public Protection Officer, said:
"Trading Standards Officers are working hard to protect the public from counterfeit goods. Members of the public have a right to buy legitimate goods from legitimate traders. Officers will continue to investigate traders who they believe are trying to fool the public into buying what are often substandard counterfeit goods."
