What's in Your Bin?

Nationally, household waste is made up of various types of material. The following tables show how these materials can be disposed of by Wrexham County Borough Council residents on the Recycle with Michael Scheme. (Waste percentages are taken from the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs [DEFRA] website).

The tables show how easy it is to recycle almost half your household waste using the Recycle with Michael scheme and up to 82% if you home compost and use Household Recycling Centres too. Better recycling facilities means less waste being thrown away for disposal and an alternate weekly collection of black bins is sufficient for a family's waste.

Weekly Collections

Residents can recycle at least 45% of their household waste using the Recycle with Michael Scheme. Every week the green boxes, containing dry recyclables including washed and squashed food and drinks cans, plastic bottles and glass containers are collected with the re-usable green sacks, containing newspapers, magazines, white phone books and junk mail.

General waste black bins will be collected on alternate weeks with the garden waste green bins. So every week, each property on the Recycle with Michael Scheme will have two collections of rubbish: recycling boxes and one bin, either black or green.

Residents who compost at home and use bring sites in addition to their kerbside collection scheme can recycle UP TO 82% of their household waste.

Better recycling facilities means less waste being thrown away for disposal and an alternate weekly collection of black bins is sufficient for a family's waste.
