What is Council Tax ?

Council Tax is a Local Tax which contributes to the running of the services provided by the councils and the Police.

Your Council Tax bill for each financial year shows what you have to pay and how much each precepting authority listed below will receive.

  • North Wales Police Authority
  • Wrexham County Borough Council
  • Your Community Council

The Council Tax depends to a degree on the expenditure of the bodies but is also dependent on government grants and the amount of money received from the National pool of rates from business and other non-domestic ratepayers.

How can I pay Council Tax ?

Wrexham County Borough Council is committed to making services more user-friendly and accessible.

As part of our on-going development programme we offer a range of payment methods for Council Tax and Business Rates, Housing Rents, Sundry debts plus the ability to pay utility bills for North Wales Gas and Dee Valley Water directly, and securely, to the Council.

On-line Bill Payments 

This online payment facility allows you to pay bills directly, and securely, to the Council 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for:

  • Council Tax
  • Business Rates
  • Housing Rent,
  • Sundry debts (Council invoices)
  • Dee Valley Water

Digital Telephone Bill Payments

You can make payments to Wrexham County Borough Council, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by using this new interactive digital telephone payment option.

By telephoning 01978 292059, and following the simple instructions, payments can be made using your credit or debit card by keying in the appropriate numbers.

This payment facility allows you to pay bills directly to the Council for:

  • Council Tax
  • Business Rates
  • Housing Rent,
  • Sundry debts such as Council invoices
  • Dee Valley Water

Direct Debit

You are recommended to use this method if you wish to pay by 10 installments. Direct Debit Mandates are available below to download from the Council Tax Forms page.

Postal Payment

If you wish to pay post and do not require a receipt, please make sure you quote your Account Reference. If you require a receipt send the whole document with a self addressed envelope.

Personal Visit

Payments can be made to the Cash Office, Lambpit Street, Wrexham between 8.45am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Please bring the whole document for receipting.

Payments can also be made at your local Estate Office.
