4-11 Brook Square, off Brook Street, Wrexham

Wrexham expanded rapidly in the 19th Century as the town became an industrial centre. The "courts" off Brook Street run by private landlords were poorly built and maintained. This photograph was taken in 1933 for the Chief Inspector of Public Health for the Borough of Wrexham. The houses were demolished in "slum clearances," but what happened to the people in the picture?
