Excited Schoolchildren await the arrival of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1953.

Wrexham was on the Coronation Tour in 1953 with the Queen meeting local people and dignitaries at Llwyn Isaf. Wrexham has welcomed other monarchs: Charles I spoke from the Town Hall in 1642. Queen Victoria was welcomed at a reception in Acton Park in 1889 . George V came in 1903 as Prince of Wales and unveiled a memorial to the men of the Royal Welch Fusiliers killed in the Boer War. Edward VIII came in 1923 laid the foundation stone of the Memorial Hospital and in 1934 visited the Miners' Institute in Rhos.
