The latest exhibition "Wrexham - The Big Town Story" at Wrexham County Borough Museum explores the history of Wrexham over the last two hundred years. In that time Wrexham has grown from "a decayed genteel town" of under 3000 people to a town that can rightly claim to be the capital of North Wales.
In the exhibition you can discover why Wrexham became a borough, how the town has grown, the struggle to improve the health and security of its citizens, the importance of Wrexham's markets, the growth of local industry and transport, the changes in the the town's schools, how the local people spent their free time and the divide between rich and poor. We hope that this exhibition will whet your appetite to find out more about this historic Welsh border town.
This is the first exhibition at the Museum to comprehensively cover the last 200 years of Wrexham's history and many previously unseen items from the Museum's collections are on display. There are also activities in the exhibition for children to help them understand the history of their local town. Adults may even enjoy them too.
