The sample passer took samples from the molten steel while the teemer was pouring the molten steel into the ingot moulds. He passed them to the laboratory for analysis.
All this testing was part of Brymbo’s search for quality. The steel was tested when molten, again when rolling and finally in the Inspection Department before dispatch.
