Wrexham Heritage Forum

 

Wrexham Heritage Forum is an independent organisation that was formed to encourage and enable public and voluntary bodies to work together with the local community in order to increase understanding, participation and conservation of the County Borough’s heritage.



About Wrexham Heritage Forum

Aims and Objectives

The objectives of the Wrexham Heritage Forum are to: -

  • Encourage and enable public and voluntary bodies to work together with local communities in order to encourage appreciation, participation, conservation and enhancement of the heritage of Wrexham County Borough.
  • Develop understanding of the role and impact of heritage, and maximise its support for the local economy.
  • Support skills development and build the capacity of the local heritage sector in order that it can be sustainable.
  • Promote and raise public awareness of the local heritage, including the Wrexham Heritage Forum and member organisations.
  • Actively encourage and increase opportunities for lifelong learning based on the local heritage.
  • Promote and take advantage of opportunities to generate funding for the local heritage.

Who runs Heritage Forum?

The Forum is a charitable organisation. It is not part of the Council but a private body run by its members. The members elect from their number, an Executive Committee to run the organisation.

Membership

Joining the Forum

Membership is open to organisations and individuals that are interested in promoting the objectives of the Forum. You will need to complete and return a membership application form together with your remittance form and subscription fee:

  • £10 per Organisation
  • £5 per Individual member

Calendar of Events and Activities

Meetings

Meetings of the Forum are open to members and non-members. Meetings are held four times a year. The diary of meetings in 2008 is to be confirmed:

  • Thursday 7th February 2008, 6.45pm for 7.00pm All Saints Church, Gresford Churches and Tourism. Sue Kelly will be talking about the development of Wrexham Open Church Network. Can security concerns compromise having a church open at all times?
  • Sunday 9th March 2008, 2.45pm for 3.00pm at Brymbo Steel Works Following last years evening visit, a daylight chance to look at the outside developments at Brymbo, and to see more of the site including the geology of the coal beds. ‘Sensible’ shoes recommended! Arranged in conjunction with Wrexham Science Festival.
  • Thursday 24th April 2008, 6.45pm for 7.00pm at Wrexham Museum Steve Barlow from the Heritage Lottery Fund will give an update on HLF policy, and take related questions from members. The Forum AGM will be held at this meeting.
