Butterchurn

A table top butterchurn. You remove the stopper to drain off the buttermilk, leaving behind the butter ready for blending and patting.

Wrexham had its own Butter Market until 1939. Rationing halted the farmers' wives trade in their Henblas Street premises. Instead the US Army Medical Corps turned the market into their canteen. The butter sellers never returned as rationing changed the nation's taste in butter.
