Police Truncheons, Denbighshire Police

The Denbighshire Police used this building as the Wrexham Police Station for nearly 100 years until they moved out in 1976.

The lay out of this building was very different when it was a Police Station. This room and the small gallery were police cells. Outside next to St Mark's Road there was the Prisoners' Exercise Yard. The yard is still there. The Main Gallery was an open courtyard with lean-to kitchen serving the canteen, which is now the Local Studies library. The Inspectors were based in the two wings of the building facing Regent Street. Upstairs were the two Courtrooms and the rooms for the Magistrates, Solicitors and Witnesses for each court.
