Gresford Colliery Disaster

A local mines' rescue team

The Gresford Colliery disaster of 1934 took the lives of 266 men. What caused the explosion? Could it have been prevented and how are these victims remembered today? Explore history through drama and re-enact the experiences of the coal miners, managers and owners of the colliery. Images, documents and mining artefacts are also used in this workshop.
