Iron Mad Wilkinson: Local History with cross curricular links to literacy, geography & art

This session offers a great opportunity to extend your knowledge of the subject, plan a group visit, develop your own professional practice and meet teachers from other schools. The session includes an introductory lecture by the exhibition curator, with practical activities, supporting educational resources and a visit to the ironworks.

John Wilkinson, an infamous eighteenth century ironmaster, was known for producing high quality cannons and inventing the cannon-boring machine. Pirates attacked his ships, his ironworks were marched upon by angry mobs. The explosive sound of fired cannon balls would ricochet through quiet Bersham. A truly remarkably story! Please book your free place in advance.
