Wrexham County Borough Museum : Visitor Information

Changing Exhibitions & Events

To find out what is happening now at Wrexham County Borough Museum go to our Exhibitions & Events page.

The Collections Centre

Very few museums have all of their collections on view, in fact, normally what you can see in the exhibitions accounts for about 15% of what is in the museum store. Now you can access the museums’ collections by visiting the Collections Centre at Wrexham County Borough Museum. Follow the above link for opening times and further details.

The Collections Centre

Researching your family tree? Want to know more about the history of your house?

The A.N. Palmer Centre for Local Studies and Archives at the Museum can help you answer these and other questions about your local history. Expert advice is available to help you make the most of our collection of censuses, parish records, photographs, maps, documents and reference materials.

The Satellite

The first phase of the Council's plan to refurbish County Buildings as a museum was to complete a purpose-built wing to replace an unsuitable building constructed during World War II. This new wing, called the Satellite, provides facilities to manage and store the museum’s on-site collections and a public study room, called the Collections Centre, to provide on-line access to the reserve collections that are not on public display.

Supported by a grant of £299,375 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the ‘Satellite’ was completed on 15 May 1998. The total cost of the new wing was £398,500, the balance funding of £99,125 being met by Wrexham County Borough Council.
