Wrexham County Borough Museum : The Satellite
The first phase of the Council's plan to refurbish County Buildings as a museum was to complete a purpose-built wing to replace an unsuitable building constructed during World War II. This new wing, called the Satellite, provides facilities to manage and store the museum's on-site collections and a public study room, called the Collections Centre, to provide on-line access to the reserve collections that are not on public display.
Supported by a grant of £299,375 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the 'Satellite' was completed on 15 May 1998. The total cost of the new wing was £398,500, the balance funding of £99,125 being met by Wrexham County Borough Council.
The Satellite building was constructed with the assistance of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
