A small but friendly and thriving swimming club, open for trial assessment for new swimmers on Wednesday evenings 8-9pm. Other sessions can be agreed on discussion at poolside with the head coach – as a club we welcome as many new members as possible
At present training sessions are:
The club also runs a Water Dragon programme to encourage younger children to develop their stamina in preparation for entering the main swimming club – the swim teachers who supervise this programme on a Tuesday evening 7-8pm, will assess individual swimmers in their ability, though we are usually looking at children who have received swimming lessons and have gained level 8 within the teaching framework, or as these levels have now been amended to stages within the latest swimming lessons then stage 7.
Some or part of the main club training sessions are allocated to particular swimmers depending on ability, we are always looking at increasing our training sessions so the times listed above, may change.
Our head coach is Steve Parker, who has years of experience as a swimmer and coach previously at Wellington. We also have ‘stand in’ coaches who may assist or replace Steve as necessary.
We enter local league galas with emphasis placed on providing a team effort, we also encourage each swimmer to follow an individual competitive pathway for their own development, as swimmers improve we encourage them ultimately to swim at National level.
