The Arbor Day Winners 2007

Every autumn, local schools are invited to take part in the annual Arbor Day Art competition. This year students were asked to research their favourite artist and enter a collage, painting or photograph with the theme of ‘Trees by my favourite artist’. The Competition is organised by the Wrexham Leader newspaper, together with Wrexham County Borough Council. The Countryside Service Rangers had the onerous task of judging a total of 389 entries.

The judges were very impressed by the very high standard of this years entries. The schools are to be congratulated on meeting the remit so successfully. The judges, a crack team of art critics drawn from across the Ranger Service, spent an afternoon of critical appraisal, reasoned intellectual debate and fights, to come to the following conclusions:
