The Autumn Amble - 21/09/2003

Image of Fiona on the Autumn AmbleThe amble took place on a glorious autumn day! Blue skies, a mild gentle breeze and a park full of autumn colour.

A smiling group of children, adults and dogs gathered in the car park and after a welcome and a riddle we ambled into the park.

We paused by the cloud of birds sculpture to hear the story of the birds gaining their colours and the nightingale her golden song.

We entered among the shining silver birch trees, matching our steps with Ehlana, helping her to find the hut of the dreaded Baba Yaga and rescue her brother.

The path was bordered by hawthorn bushes with bright red haws and ripe, shiny blackberries. A blackbird shouted a warning as we rustled through the dry leaves.

The last story was the wide-mouthed frog, rapidly becoming a theme story for the park! With shouts and hopping children we made our way back out of the trees and followed the path for tea and chocolate at Fore Golf.

A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
