On February 11th children from Llay Park Infant School, their parents and special guests gathered at Alyn Waters Country Park for the burial of their time capsule and the first steps towards the creation of the new "Meeting Space" sculpture.

The clouds parted to give way to blue skies and sunshine and the birds were singing to welcome the children to the park. They were escorted into the park by "Parklife - the Hole Story" project leaders, storytellers Fiona Collins and Amy Douglas as well as senior ranger, Tamsin Butler.

At the site of the new "Meeting Place", JCB driver extraordinaire Kevin Williams and visual artist Roger Bloomfield were waiting to greet the excited children.

The ground was scraped out ready for the foundations of the Meeting Place and then the children watched as the JCB scooped out huge mounds of earth to make a hole for their time capsule.

The time capsule was filled with all the objects that the children wanted to send to the future. It included a school uniform so that children in the future would know what they wear in school today; photographs; thoughts about Llay today; a tape of the children singing their favourite songs and two woodland spirit puppets to protect the time capsule until it is unearthed in the future.

Filled with such treasures it was only fitting that the time capsule should be a treasure chest and it shone gleaming black and gold in the Spring sunshine.

Long ribbons streamed from the handles of the time capsule and every child present held on to a piece of the ribbon and helped to gently lower the time capsule into the ground. Special guests from HACK, horse rescue centre; Llay Gardeners, Cavendish School, Runcorn and Llay Local History Society added coins and flowers to be buried.

The JCB was once again given pride of place and the time capsule was buried beneath the sand, soil and stones of Alyn Waters in the centre of the "Meeting Place"
