Play
The grant will provide an opportunity for children's play and enrichment at little or no cost, with the priority given to disadvantaged areas.
Any organisation can apply provided they are from within Wrexham County Borough. The main purpose of Play 2004 is to support good projects that will create new or improve current play provision. Fixed equipment will not be given a priority. The maximum grant available will be £5,000, however applications will be judged on merit.
Considerations for Application
Applications are available in both Welsh and English. The form has been designed to be as simple as possible whilst making sure the Play Panel has all the information it needs to make a decision on your project.
Age range: 5-15
Location: Whilst targeting area's of recognised deprivation within Wrexham, this does not mean that other application's will be unsuccessful, just that they may be given a lower priority.
Projects must be open access. Open access provision may be outdoors or indoors, supervised or unsupervised. The key characteristic of open access play provision is that children themselves choose whether to come or go, and those responsible for the provision do not have a contract with the parents or carers of the children to provide childcare. Overall the open access play should provide positive experiences for children and young people.
Sustainability: As far as possible applications should be aimed at generating sustainable change and encouraging new ways of working, e.g. training and development of staff. Demonstrate there are links for continued activity in place, raising awareness of opportunities outside your project ensuring they are promoted and actively sought.
Deprivation: Meeting the need for the improvements of open access play provision in the most deprived communities in Wrexham. Supporting evidence will aid your application.
Community Benefits: Partnership and community regeneration should be taken into consideration. Community benefits should be highlighted such as, the reduction of anti-social behaviour by offering diversionary activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation: The evaluation process is vital to determine the success of the programmes. Objectives will be used to verify that the programme goals were achieved. |
How will the targets will be evaluated, i.e. what needs to be measured, numbers taking part, participant's changes in attitudes, etc. A number of different evaluation methods can be used. It is important to demonstrate how the targets will be evaluated and the methods that will be used to collate the information.
