Playday

Playday is the UK wide annual celebration of Children’s Right to Play that takes place every August on the first Wednesday of the month.

Wrexham Play Network celebrates national Playday each year by holding a large scale, free, open access play event from 12pm to 4pm in the town centre on Queen’s Square and Llwyn Isaf.

Each year Playday has a different campaign. Previous campaigns have included "Our Streets Too!" which highlighted the need for change so that children, young people and their families can feel confident about playing in streets and areas near their homes. “Give Us A Go!” called for children to be allowed challenging and adventurous play opportunities and aimed to shake off the ‘cotton wool’ culture that can limit children’s play and “Make Time!” which asked everyone to make time for play from parents, carers and teachers, to policy makers and planners.

Each year play organisations from across Wrexham come together to promote the Playday campaign and provide exciting play opportunities for children and young people. The events offer something for everyone who enjoys playing including the chance to get wet and messy!
