Wrexham County Borough Council’s Parks, Countryside and Public Rights of Way section have created a new circular route in the Garth and Penycae area.
The new 4 mile route (called ‘Dingle and the Darkie’) links the new World Heritage Site at Pontcysyllte aqueduct with the surrounding countryside. Walkers who wish to opt for a shorter walk can try out the 1.5 mile route which includes nine new easy-to-use kissing gates.
Funding for the project came from the Welsh Assembly Government in support of Wrexham County Borough Council’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan.
Access and Rights of Way ranger, Dave Smith, added “I am very grateful to all the landowners for their co-operation, and to local rambler Geoff Pettit who approached me with the idea of creating this new route.”
