Worthenbury Path Improvements

Wrexham County Borough Council’s Parks, Countryside and Public Rights of Way section of the Environment Department have installed two new footbridges on a popular path between the villages of Worthenbury and Shocklach.

The path also forms part of the newly opened Dee Way Trail which runs all the way from the Dee’s source near Bala to the Dee Estuary.

The bridges which are 12 metres and 16 metres long are made out of wood, have steel beams and a non slip surface. They replace old stone structures that were becoming unserviceable.

Part of the funding for the project came from the Welsh Assembly Government in support of Wrexham’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan.

Alison Whitley and Charlotte Flett from Wrexham Council’s Public Rights of Way Section try out one of the new footbridges in Worthenbury.
