The prestigious Sports Awards are designed to truly value the excellent work of local people in the local communities throughout Wrexham, in their drive to recognise and honour the achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers involved in sport looking to achieve sporting excellence in Wrexham.
The event is held on an annual basis attracting 350 guests and sponsors. The Sports Awards have been held at Brymbo Sports & Social Complex since the resurrection of the event in 2004.
Wrexham District Sports Council in conjunction with Wrexham County Borough Councils Sports Development team would like to invite nominations for the prestigious annual Wrexham District Sports Council Awards.
The presentation evening held on November 7th 2008 at Brymbo Sports & Social Complex. Nominations are encouraged from sports clubs, schools and volunteers to help Wrexham District Sports Council truly value the excellent work and achievement of local people.

A panel of judges elected from the Wrexham District Sports Council has shortlisted candidates who are invited to attend.
A team (not individuals) who has achieved significant success at local, regional, national or international events during the last 12 months.
An individual who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
An individual who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
An individual who has made a significant contribution to sport through performance, coaching, volunteering or encouraging others to become involved during his or her lifetime.
Coaches at all levels from grassroots to elite are at the very heart of sport. Those coaching youngsters at the local level are just as vital as those coaches who work with elite athletes. This award will recognize the achievements of local coaches who make a difference to sport in their field.
An individual with a physical or learning disability who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
An individual, team or club within the primary school who either makes a difference to develop opportunities for participation for all of its pupils or has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport whilst participating for your school. This award will recognise the achievements of local coaches, volunteers, sports teams or individuals within your primary school.

We are looking for an individual who, on a voluntary basis, makes a difference to sport within Wrexham. They must give their time and talents to enable others to participate in the sport in question. This may be helping an individual, group or teams. The sport can be at any level. They must be someone who gains no financial reward for their time and effort.
A club that has worked to develop the future of its club by increasing participation in all sections. A club that has looked to seek funding and increase the number of coaches and volunteers within their structure
An individual who demonstrates and promotes positive attitudes in sport and improves the standards of sporting behaviour of those around them through co-operation with others in a group.
