

Wrexham County Borough Council along with their Sport Development team would like to invite nominations for this years prestigious Annual Wrexham County Borough Sports Awards 2013.
The prestigious event highlights and values the excellent work of local people in local communities in and around Wrexham and recognises and honours the achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers looking to achieve sporting excellence in Wrexham.
The presentation evening is being held on Thursday 21st February 2013 at Brymbo Sports and Social complex, and Wrexham County Borough Council is encouraging nominations from sports clubs, schools and volunteers to help the Wrexham County Borough Council to truly value the outstanding work, and athletic achievement of local people.
Since the resurrection of the Sports Awards in 2004 it has been very successful in raising the profile of local sporting facilities and athletes in the area, recognising and rewarding them for their contributions to sport in Wrexham and its surrounding areas.
The closing date for all nominations is Friday 18th January 2013. Awards will be presented in a number of categories as follows:

A team (not individuals) who has achieved significant success at local, regional, national or international events during the last 12 months. This could be a community or school team.
An individual who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport whilst under the age of 18 at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
An individual who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
An individual who has made a significant contribution to community or school sport through performance, coaching, volunteering or encouraging others to become involved during his or her lifetime.
Coaches at all levels from grassroots to elite within the community or school are at the very heart of sport. Those coaching youngsters at the local level are just as vital as those coaches who work with elite athletes. This award will recognize the achievements of local coaches who make a difference to sport in their field.
An individual with a physical or learning disability who has achieved a high standard of performance in their chosen sport at local, regional, national or international levels during the last 12 months.
A Primary School who have worked hard to develop their curricular and extra-curricular physical activities for all pupils within their schools. This award recognises the school who is involved in a variety of sports and physical activities working with Dragon Sport, Active Young People Programme and Pess to seek fun and competitive opportunities for the participation of all its pupils.
A Secondary School, who has worked hard to develop their curricular and extra-curricular physical activities for all pupils within their school, plus developed links with local feeder schools. This recognises the school that has become involved with a variety of sports or physical activities and is actively working with Dragon Sport, Active Young People Programme, Pess and other agencies.
We are looking for an individual who, on a voluntary basis, makes a difference to sport within a community or school setting in Wrexham. They must give their time and talents to enable others to participate in the sport in question. This may be helping an individual, group or teams. The sport can be at any level. They must be someone who gains no financial reward for their time and effort.
A club that has worked to develop the future of its club by increasing participation in all sections. A club that has looked to seek funding and increase the number of coaches and volunteers within their structure
An individual or team that demonstrates and promotes positive attitudes in community or school sport and improves the standards of sporting behaviour of those around them through co-operation with others in a group.
An individual who has made a significant contribution to the running or organisation of their chosen sport within a school or community club. This could include fund raising, administration, committee member, the person providing transport or the person washing the kit. A person who would not normally be recognised within any other category
