Our offices are open to visitors between 8.45am and 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45 to 4.45 on a Friday or you can contact us by telephone between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Attention Parents

If your baby was born on or after 29th October 2002, please ensure that you take your hospital discharge notes with you to the Register office when visiting to register your baby's birth. These discharge notes contain the baby's NHS number and enable the Registrar to issue a form for you to register the baby with your family doctor.

Should you forget to take the notes with you, don't worry, as your family doctor will be able to obtain the NHS number from a different source.

Requesting copies of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates

Copies of Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates are available from the Register Office. These are needed for many day-to-day purposes including:

  • Applying for a passport
  • Seeking a student loan
  • Attaching to a CV
  • Making an insurance claim
  • Proving probate

For each copy certificate you need to let us know the:

  • Name of the person (and the name of their partner in the case of a marriage)
  • Date of the event
  • Place of birth or death
  • Name of the church for a marriage

Apply online or you can put these details in a letter or download, complete and post the relevant application form (see below) with the appropriate fee to:

You will need to enclose a cheque or postal order made payable to "Wrexham County Borough Council". It would be appreciated if a stamped addressed envelope could be included.

Alternatively you can apply in person at the Register Office during our normal working hours.

Costs

Copies of full Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates are £7.00 each.

A short copy of a Birth Certificate is available for £5.50. This does not include details of the parents and may not always be accepted by passport offices or other organisations.

Security

At present we are not able to take telephone applications and we do not recommend you send any financial or personal details by e-mail.

Divorce Decree

You can get a copy of your divorce papers from the court where the divorce was processed.

If your divorce took place in Wrexham, a copy of the Decree Absolute may be obtained from:
