This is one of a series of building control guidance notes which aims to explain the building regulations procedures.

Applying For Approval

A Guide to the Building Notice Procedure

This is the simpler of two methods of notification. It cannot be used for shops, hotels, boarding houses, factories railway premises or offices. If you use this method you should follow these five simple steps:

  1. Complete an Application for Building Regulations Approval form, ticking Building Notice at the top. Plans of your proposal or detailed calculations may be required at a later date.
  2. Decide on what date you will start the work and advise accordingly.
  3. If you have any queries please contact us for an informal discussion about your proposals or if any problems arise on 01978 292050.
  4. Check the Scheme of Charges guidance note to calculate the building notice charge. If the work is being carried out with the aid of a House Renovation Grant, the Building Notice Fee may be deducted at source.
  5. Submit your application to: Building Control, Wrexham County Borough Council, Lambpit Street. PO Box 1290, Wrexham, LL11 1WL.
