About Planning Environment

The Planning Environment Section offers specialist advice to all departments of the Council and to members of the public. It seeks to protect, manage and enhance the natural and built environment by working in partnership with others.

  • Information on listed buildings and advice on alterations to listed buildings

  • Production of Conservation Area Assessments and Enhancement Plans

  • Advice on restoration and repair of historic properties

  • Active involvement in urban regeneration and urban design projects

  • Development of historic buildings database

  • Management of Housing Above Retail Premises (HARPS) Grants

  • Involvement in public arts projects
