The Hand Hotel, Chirk, Wrexham The hotel was built as a hostelry on the Holyhead Road in the mid 18th Century, largely to serve travellers on the Thomas Telford route from London to Dublin.
Built in red brick to Flemish bond with a tipped slate roof, the main early block is 3 storey with cellars. The external entrance features a Tuscan portico of classical grandeur. The hostelry's former brewery of 1790 was demolished for new accommodation.
It is listed as a fine example of an 18th Century hostelry with contemporary fenestration, set in the conservation area of Chirk.
