Changes to Parking Enforcement in Wrexham County Borough from 1 March 2008

On 1 March 2008 a major change was introduced to the way in which the County Borough’s parking regulations are enforced.  From that date, officers employed by the Council have patrolled the streets and Council car parks.

Why the Change?

This parking enforcement arrangement is not about raising revenue.  There are a number of reasons it was introduced, all of which benefit the people living in, working in and visiting the County Borough.

Over 230 local authorities around the country manage parking enforcement in their areas, and have seen the benefits of doing so;  many other local authorities will take on this responsibility in the future.

We now work under the title of ‘Civil Parking Enforcement’.  Parking enforcement by the Council stopped being a criminal offence and became a civil contravention.

For further information regarding these changes contact the Council's Parking Services on 01978 292042 or email parking@wrexham.gov.uk.
