The Junior Road Safety Officers Scheme is designed to target Year 5 and 6 pupils. The school appoints two Junior Road Safety Officers, one from Year 6 and one from Year 5, who will keep a notice board on Road Safety up to date.
Each term the Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) changes the message about Road Safety. The school decides on how much or how little a particular message is promoted depending on demand.
The scheme has a mascot called Meg Meddwl, a border collie, whose picture appears on the stationery and promotional banner for the scheme. From time to time prizes are given for good work. Once a year a Road Safety Excellence Award is awarded to the school that is most proactive in Road Safety.
