Acton Community Resource Centre (ACRC) is a busy, successful, well-resourced and vibrant centre. With many sessions of activity for all ages in music, sport, fitness, education, recreation, leisure, the arts, training, and events - there is something for everyone.

The fully refurbished and extended centre is based at the previous community centre site on Overton Way with an estimated investment of over £800,000 from Wrexham Council and Acton Community Council.

The facility is operated by Wrexham County Borough Council and has a voluntary management committee who work to develop events and activities further. If you have some free time and are thinking about building on your skills and giving back to the community, come and be involved. The committee meet quarterly at the centre.

Facilities available

The multi-purpose design of the building is aimed at meeting the diverse needs of the community and optimising the existing space for existing and new groups and organisations.

The building has various rooms for hire with capacities depending on the type of activity ranging from 4 people per room to180 people per room. Our rooms are wheelchair accessible and free use of hearing loop is available on request. We also offer free WiFi throughout the building we have a range of ICT equipment for use to hold meetings, have presentations and host events or parties. Furniture is upholstered (stackable) chairs and folding tables.

Meeting rooms

Rooms – capacities are dependent on the type of activity you plan to hold and the configuration of tables and seating required. We are always happy to facilitate site visits and show people around - just contact us to arrange.

Interview room - use for up to 4 people

Equipped with a desk, operator chair and 3 further chairs.

Meeting room - use for up to 20 people

Equipped with 2 large meeting tables seating 16 Chairs. Fixed write-on whiteboard.

Laptop, data projector, projector screen and flipcharts, are available on request.

Training room – use for up to 30 people

Equipped with 1 Sectioned boardroom table (7 pieces) seating 22 Chairs. Fixed write-on whiteboard.

Laptop, data projector, screen and flipcharts, are available on request.

Half a Hall (x2) use for up to 60 people

Laptop, data projector, screen and flipcharts, are available on request.

Staging for lectures/events is available on request.

IT facilities

The centre is equipped with 14 public use laptops, laser printer, free internet access, scanner, office and presentation software.

Main hall

Large, modern hall with accommodation for up to 180 people (seated theatre style).  Portable staging available for lectures and events.

Flooring is semi sprung wood and is suitable for leisure activities, fitness and light sports.

Equipped with laptop, data projector and fixed screen, sound system.

Flipcharts are available on request.

The hall can be split into two separate meeting spaces.

Crèche Facilities

Self-contained, fully equipped crèche leased to AVOW Little Sunflowers Acton (external link)

Available as an additional hiring space evenings and weekends.

Kitchen

Large kitchen with domestic catering facilities with café style tables and soft seating areas. To be shared use with all users in the building at any particular time.

Community spaces

Meeting rooms and community event spaces can be hired by charitable and voluntary groups at reduced rates. They are suitable for a range of activities and fundraising events, from parties and bingo sessions to classes and meetings, or as a base for running a community project.

Birthday parties

Birthday parties for under 16’s can be booked for the full main hall space subject to availability.

Parties for adults 18 years and over can be booked for the full main hall space subject to availability. There is no alcohol license in place for these premises and it is the hirer’s responsibility to obtain any temporary event license as required.

We are unable to cater for 16th or 18th birthday parties due to restrictions in licensing law.
