The Welsh Government announced that a £150 cost-of-living support payment would be provided to all households who, on February 15, were either:

  • living in properties in Council Tax bands A-D
  • receiving a means tested Council Tax reduction, regardless of their property band

A discretionary scheme will also be setup to help support other households who may be struggling but do not fit into the above criteria.

We understand that people in Wales are facing very real cost-of-living crisis.

If you don’t already pay by Direct Debit you may want to setup a Direct Debit, as this is the quickest and easiest way to receive this payment and pay Council Tax.

For those who pay by Direct Debit, we are reviewing cases where there are differences between the details held on the mandate and account. Payments are being made on a weekly basis, so you should receive your payment soon if you haven’t already. If we are unable to verify any details, we will write to you.

For Non Direct Debit cases, letters will be sent out from June 27 onwards. You will need to wait for the letter, which will direct you to a website to provide bank details so we can make the payment.

Be mindful of emails or texts from suspicious sources offering information on the scheme. It's often a scammer trying to steal your information.
