Following the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission Review for Wrexham, Welsh Government have made the following order - The County Borough of Wrexham (Electoral Arrangements) Order 2021. This order is now in force.
The following changes will be made:
- increase the number of councillors from 52 to 56
- increase the number of wards from 47 to 49
The specific changes to wards are as follows:
- Acrefair North ward
This is the previous Plas Madoc ward and will remain represented by 1 councillor. - Acton and Maesydre ward
This is a combination of the previous Acton and Maesydre wards and will be represented by 2 councillors. - Bangor Is-y-Coed ward
This is a part of the previous Bronington ward and will be represented by 1 councillor. - Bronington and Hanmer ward
This is a combination of part of the previous Bronington ward and part of the Overton ward and will be represented by 1 councillor. - Brymbo ward
This ward will now be represented by 2 councillors. - Brynyffynnon ward
Properties have been moved from the Brynyffynnon ward to the Offa ward and properties have been moved from the Offa ward to the Brynyffynnon ward and the ward will remain represented by 1 councillor. - Cefn East ward
This is part of the previous Cefn ward and will be represented by 1 councillor. - Cefn West ward
This is part of the previous Cefn ward and will be represented by 1 councillor. - Erddig ward
Properties have been moved from the Offa ward to the Erddig ward and the ward will remain represented by 1 councillor. - Gwersyllt East ward
This is part of the previous Gwersyllt East and South ward, properties have been moved from the Gwersyllt South ward to the Gwersyllt East ward and the ward will be represented by 1 councillor. - Gwersyllt South ward
This is part of the previous Gwersyllt East and South ward, properties have been moved from the Gwersyllt South ward to the Gwersyllt East ward and the ward will be represented by 1 councillor. - Overton and Maelor South ward
This is part of the previous Overton ward and will be represented by 1 councillor. - Pant and Johnstown ward
This is a combination of the previous Pant and Johnstown wards and will be represented by 2 councillors. - Rhosnesni ward
This ward will now be represented by 2 councillors. - Rossett ward
This ward will now be represented by 2 councillors. - Smithfield ward
Properties have been moved from the Whitegate ward and will remain represented by 1 councillor.
