Key dates
- Admission forms available: January 6, 2026
- Closing date for on-time applications: February 16, 2026
- Allocation period: February 17, 2026 to March 23, 2026
- Nursery Offer date: May 5, 2026
When applying for nursery in September 2026 please be aware of the following:
- Nursery education is offered at our primary schools on the basis of two and a half hour sessions, five times per week, during the school year.
- Funded nursery education is not available at any other childcare setting.
- Attending a Funded Early Education class at a particular primary school does not guarantee subsequent admission to nursery class at that school. A fresh application will be required.
- You need to apply by the closing date to be considered an on-time application.
- Any applications received after the closing date will be considered as ‘late’ applications; this includes any amendments to on-time applications received after this point.
- Late applications that are received up to the end of the allocation period will be considered together after all on-time applications. If we receive more applications than a school has places available, applications will be ranked using the published oversubscription criteria. We will give places to on-time applications first, and then to late applications if there are remaining places available.
- This means that an on-time application for a student living a considerable distance from a particular school may be successful, whereas a late application for a student living very close to the school may not be. It is very important that you submit your application on time to avoid disappointment.
- Any applications received after the allocation period cannot be processed until after Nursery Offer Day.
- This means that if you apply after March 23rd, you will not receive an offer letter on Offer Day. We will write to you later in April with the outcome of your application.
- You should inform the school admissions team if your application is submitted late as the result of a house move or if there any other relevant circumstances which led to your application being submitted after the closing date.
You can apply online - this is the quickest and easiest way to apply. You will also get an email letting you know your application has been received.
Paper applications are available on request by emailing admissions@wrexham.gov.uk.
