The flagship and flexible welcoming walk in the Ceiriog Valley

If starting in Chirk, set out from either the main town car park (behind Hand Hotel), the train station, or Glyn Wylfa Car Park along Castle Street (B4500), near the aqueduct. Each stage indicates an average walking speed, so you can plan your own timings depending on your personal walking speed.

Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 255.

Each stage is described in both directions; up-valley (west) and down-valley (east) and general walk information (points of interest, history, etc) can be downloaded.

Paper copies and High quality maps of the walk are available from the Tourist Information Points at each of the 3 Post Offices, (Colliers Rd. Chirk, Pontfadog and Glyn Ceiriog), some shops, and most hotels locally.

Recent footpath improvements to the path itself and wider area will assist in keeping the Valley popular with walkers, and attract more visitors to the area, who in turn help support local businesses. The variety of paths available also cater for all levels of fitness.

The Ceiriog Valley Walk is the flagship walk of the Chirk and Ceiriog Valley Partnership, devised 15 years ago to link all the villages in the valley from Chirk to Llanarmon (and vice-versa), with convenient access available by public transport to different sections of the walk.

With excellent waymarking and facilities along the route, not to mention beautiful scenery and historic landmarks, this is a ‘must-do’ for all types of walkers.
