Eligible households can claim a one-off £100 payment to provide support towards paying their on-grid winter fuel bills.
The payment will be available to all eligible households regardless of whether they pay for their fuel on a pre-payment meter, by direct debit or by paying a bill quarterly.
One member of the household must be receiving one of the following working age means-tested welfare benefits:
- Income Support
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credits
Single person household eligibility
You must be receiving the benefits as stated above.
You must also be responsible for paying the energy bills for the property.
You will only be eligible if you not have received a payment under the scheme before.
Couple household eligibility
You, your partner, or both of you must be:
- receiving the benefits as stated above
- responsible for paying the fuel bills at your property
Your household will only be eligible if you or your partner have not received a payment under the scheme before.
How to apply
We will be writing to households who we believe are eligible. We’ll ask for basic information to support the claim, along with details to allow the payment.

If you are experiencing severe financial hardship you may wish to make a claim to the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF).
