Submissions for Expressions of Interest for this grant are currently closed. The grant may be opened to Expressions of Interest again should any funding become available for reallocation.

You can read through the grant guidance to prepare in case the grant re-opens. To submit an Expression of Interest the lead applicant will need to register for a MyAccount (which you can do now) to manage the enterprises application.

Before submitting an Expression of Interest below, make sure you have read all of the guidance for this grant.

You (as the lead applicant) will first need to create an account on MyAccount to be used for the enterprise. Once an account has been created you can then complete the online form.

Summary of the information you will be asked to provide

All applicants

Details of the enterprise / proposed enterprise and lead applicant

  • The lead applicants full name and contact details
  • The name / proposed name of the enterprise
  • Whether the enterprise is pre-start, existing / actively operating
  • The main activity of the enterprise
  • Enterprise structure / proposed structure (for example, sole trader, limited company, community interest company)
  • Contact details for a director or partner of the company (if relevant) and confirmation of their consent to apply for the grant
  • An indication whether or not the enterprise runs / will run for over 30 hours a week
  • The address where the enterprise runs / will run from within Wrexham County Borough and whether the project will take place at this address
  • Confirmation of whether the enterprise is operating or will operate as a social enterprise or a charity, and if so, confirmation that the enterprise generates revenue from business activity.

Project details

  • A clear description of the proposed project (up to 100 words)
  • An explanation of what the project will achieve and how the enterprise will benefit both in the short and long term (up to 100 words)
  • Items and / or services the grant will be used towards
  • An estimation of the time, in months, that the project will take to deliver (all projects and outcomes must be complete by October 31, 2024 at the latest)
  • The number of full time / part time jobs (if any) to be created and / or safeguarded as a direct result of the proposed project
  • An indication whether the project will help the enterprise to:
    • Introduce new products 
    • Adopt new technologies or processes
    • Improve productivity 
    • Lower it’s greenhouse gas emissions, improve from an environmental perspective or help towards achieving net zero 
  • An estimation of the likely effect on the annual turnover of the enterprise, for the year following project completion (increase in turnover as a direct result of the project as a percentage)
  • The estimated total project cost including VAT
  • Amount of grant support being requested
  • Confirmation that the enterprise is likely to have / be able to secure the means (either through its own or other funds, such as a loan) to finance 100% of the above project costs, and will be able to evidence the finance as being in place if the expression of interest is approved.
  • Confirmation of whether the enterprise will exceed the Minimal Financial Assistance subsidy threshold (at group level) of £315,000 (based on a cumulation during the current and previous two financial years)
If the project will involve building works
  • Confirmation of the freeholder of the property, contact details of the freeholder where this isn’t the enterprise / lead applicant along with confirmation of the freeholders consent for the works to the property being undertaken 
  • Where the property is occupied on lease details of the unexpired term of the lease in years 
  • Confirmation whether any form of planning permission (including change of use) is in place, which may be required

Existing enterprises only

  • The enterprises most recent annual turnover (if the enterprise has been trading for less than 1 year then details of turnover to-date will need to be provided)
  • The current number of employees (not on zero hour contracts) and the hours they work each week
  • Confirmation whether the enterprise is VAT registered
  • Contact details for the enterprise

Pre-start enterprises only

  • An estimation of the enterprise’s turnover for its first full year of trading (with this being based on not receiving grant support)
  • If an existing business will be taken over; the current number of staff, full time and / or part time (if any) the enterprise employees (excluding staff on zero hours contracts), the total number of contracted hours worked by employees per week and what the enterprise defines, in terms of hours per week, to be full time (35, 37 or 40 hours, for example).
