Holocaust Memorial Day 2018

The theme for this year is ‘The Power of Words’, with this in mind, we’re bringing together community leaders such as the Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor John Pritchard, Bishop Peter Brignall, Eric Ngalle Charles a poet from Cameroon who has taken refuge and inspiration in Wales, LGBT speaker Kate Hutchinson. The latter two speeches will be condensed into poetry from Voicebox locals Peter Rogers and Natasha Borton. During the morning there will an opportunity to view an exhibition, containing information about the Holocaust and subsequent genocides, alongside creative writing from Glyndwr University students, and an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of those who lost their lives and also take part in the two minutes silence. Guests are invited to eat together after the event, from light refreshments inspired by the countries and cultures persecuted during the Holocaust.
