CWMPLODDY (Original Welsh Comedy Drama)

'Peter Read as Dylan Thomas is a fabulously hypnotic performer whose passion and enthusiasm for his subject is self-evident. This superlative production knocks similar efforts into a cocked hat’ - Graham Williams, South Wales Evening Post Starting in Dylan Thomas's "lovely, ugly" home town of Swansea, this acclaimed one-man play, staged in the great poet's centenary year, follows him through some of his journeys to his final journey to New York in 1953, where he died. We see him leave Aberystwyth in the pouring rain to start his project of walking through Wales. The mission is aborted after a couple of pints and the sighting of a queen rat. We then travel with him to the ‘insane city’ of London, which he claimed ‘smelled of goat’. In the capital he meets Caitlin and several members of the drinking literati. In New York he is chased by a secret detective and finally collapses after proudly announcing he has drunk 18 whiskies, which he believed was the record. The play is both comic and tragic and gives an insight into the tortured life of a writer who could not decide whether he wanted to live with Caitlin or another woman, write poetry or plays and live in America or Wales. CWMPLODDY Is Original Comedy Drama about the Residents of Cwmploddy Village. We guarantee you side-splitting laughter from from start to finish It's a mix of Mrs Browns Boys, meets Hyacinth Bucket all rolled into one. Dickens of an Evening

We see Dickens in his own home celebrate with his friends as they act out excerpts from some of his Christmas pieces. There are all the elements of Christmas celebrations, visitations from ghosts, haunted men, Christmas trees coming to life plus festive joy. Beneath the jollity, the undercurrents of Dickens' private life are always near the surface. Using several of Dickens' special Christmas stories such as The Chimes and Christmas Carol, playwright Peter Read, who has received rave reviews for his depiction of Dylan Thomas now turns his attention to Charles Dickens. The six actors are drawn from Limelight Productions, a theatre group that has gained a deserved reputation for its productions over the years.

New Tae Kwon Do Centre opening in Wrexham

Students and staff at Ady Jones’ Tae Kwon Do Academy are thrilled to have a new dedicated training venue open in Wrexham. Based on Wrexham Industrial Estate, the Family Martial Arts Centre is the first of its kind to open in Wrexham, and boasts a fully matted training area of over 2,400 square feet, as well as a fully enclosed mezzanine viewing area and cafe, changing facilities and a gym area. Dedicated to providing the highest quality of coaching and instruction, Master Ady Jones has a 6th Degree Black Belt and is a multiple World, European and National Champion. Ady says: “We are opening a facility that is much needed in the area and will benefit the Wrexham community, there is nothing else comparable to it in the whole of North Wales and with Tae Kwon Do being the UK’s fastest growing Martial Art, our town and the surrounding area was in much need of a safe and positive environment for adults and children to learn this fantastic sport.” Classes are available 7 days per week, with a full timetable that caters for children aged 3 years and up through to adults. Family classes are also available, so you can spend some quality time with the kids whilst learning new skills and keeping fit at the same time. The new centre will be hosting an open weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September between 10am & 4pm Ady says all are welcome to stop by for a visit and see the new facilities.
