Children who reside in Wrexham could be entitled to 10 hours of Funded Early Education, dependent on when their birthday falls. For children whose 3rd birthday falls between September 1 to December 31, a funded place will be provided for the Spring and Summer term. For children whose 3rd birthday falls between January 1 to March 31, a funded place will be provided for the Summer term.

Children born on or after April 1, receive their education entitlement in the school nursery classes in the autumn term after their 3rd birthday.

What is the offer?

You can access up to 30 hours per week of combined Funded Early Education or Nursery Education and government-funded childcare, for up to 48 weeks of the year.

This Funded Early Education element forms 10 hours of the 30 hour offer.

Securing a Funded Early Education place does not give you an automatic nursery place in a Wrexham school. You must apply for a nursery place separately.

When and how can I apply for Funded Early Education?

For children whose 3rd birthday falls between September 1st to December 31st, a funded place will be provided for the Spring and Summer term.  For children whose 3rd birthday falls between January 1st to March 31st, a funded place will be provided for the summer term.

If your child is eligible for both spring and summer terms you can apply from September 2, 2024. You’ll need to apply by October 25, 2024 to be offered a place starting in spring term (January) 2025.

If your child is eligible just for the summer term you can apply from October 28, 2024. You’ll need to apply by December 20, 2024, to be offered a place starting in summer term (April) 2025.

Both intakes will remain open but any applications received after the above closing dates will be late applications.

You can apply online for Funded Early Education. Alternatively paper applications are available by emailing fundedearlyeducation@wrexham.gov.uk.
